Avici Systems Names Bob Schechter To Board of Directors
N. Billerica, MA, June 23, 2003 -- Avici Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: AVCI), today announced that Robert P. Schechter would be joining the Avici Board of Directors, effective immediately.
Mr. Schechter is currently Chairman, President and CEO of NMS Communications, Inc. Prior to joining NMS, Mr. Schechter spent eight years at Lotus Development Corporation as Senior Vice President of Finance and Operations and Chief Financial Officer, and most recently as Senior Vice President of the International Business Group. Prior to joining Lotus, Mr. Schechter was a partner with Coopers & Lybrand in Boston. Mr. Schechter also sits on the Boards of Moldflow Corporation and MapInfo Corporation and is also the incoming chairman of the Massachusetts Telecommunications Council and a member of the Board of the Massachusetts High Tech Council.
As a member of the Avici Board, Mr. Schechter will also sit on the Company’s Audit Committee.
Mr. Schechter will fill one of two Board seats recently vacated by the resignations of Stephen Diamond, who has left the board to focus on earlier stage companies in the Sprout Ventures portfolio and Sanjiv Ahuja, who is focusing on his new role as COO of Orange SA.
