This chapter describes messages generated by the module subsystem.

Major

Message: chip: <address> [<error info>] pmdParErr: parity err segment 0 DRAM [reg val - 0x<register>]

Meaning: A Parity Error was detected on the module Fabric ASIC for 0 DRAM.

Action: If this is an isolated error and no other fabric/link errors are reported in the system log, reseat the module. If the problem persists, contact Avici Customer Support.

Message: chip: <address> [<error info>] sourceCtlrErr: second flit of pair missing [reg val - 0x<register>]

Meaning: Indicates that the second flit of a flit pair is missing on the specified fabric link. A module may reboot or a fabric link may bounce and a fabric link scrubbed in conjunction with this event. Other messages will be reported in conjunction with link down messages. A flit is a data cell internal to the ASIC.

Action: No action is required for this message, see accompanying messages for a possible action.

Minor

Message: <chip id>- Too Few Tags for MPLS Opcode

Meaning: The MPLS Opcode requested more label pops/swap than exist in the packet.

Action: No action required.

Message: ##### D0 Fabric ASIC CRev:<revision> interrupt Time: <time> ##### - Register: PmdParErr = 0x<value>. Parity: - PM Data Err parity err segment 4 DRAM (errCount = <number>) current link ID: <link>, link down indicators (0-5): <link 0><link 1><link 2><link 3><link 4><link 5>

Meaning: Parity Error detected on a module ASIC. (For link status: 0=up,1=down for all links).

Action: If this is an isolated error and no other fabric/link errors are reported in the system log, reseat the module.If the problem persists after reseating, or if additional fabric/link errors are reported in the System log, those additional errors should be reviewed as this is most likely a side affect of those occurances. Contact Avici Customer Support.

Message: ##### D1 Fabric ASIC interrupt Time: <time>, <link> ##### - Register: source_data_error = 0x<value>. - FabErr Src Data: low word flit (Flow Control Digit) buffer parity, <link> (errCount = <number>) current link ID: <link>, link down indicators (0-5): <link 0><link 1><link 2><link 3><link 4><link 5>

Meaning: Source Data Error detected on module ASIC. (For Link Status: 0=up,1=down for all links). A flit is a data cell internal to the ASIC.

Action: Hardware problem. Contact Avici Customer Support.

Meaning: Source Data Error detected on module ASIC. (For Link Status: 0=up,1=down for all links).

Extract: - PM Ctrl Err parity error on discarded packet descriptor of Packet QOS ASIC (errCount = <number>) current link ID: <link>, link down indicators (0-5): <link 0><link 1><link 2><link 3><link 4><link 5>

Meaning: Extraction Error detected on a module ASIC (FSC). Packet Memory Control Error - Parity error on Cello - Discarded packet descriptor. (For Link Status: 0=up,1=down for all links).

Action: Hardware Problem. Contact Avici Customer Support.

Message: ##### FSC Fabric ASIC CRev:<revision> interrupt Time: <time> ##### - Register: InsertErr = 0x<value>. Insert: - PM Ctrl Err returned page already freed (errCount = <number>) current link ID: <link>, link down indicators (0-5): <link 0><link 1><link 2><link 3><link 4><link 5>

Meaning: Insert Error detected on module ASIC (FSC). Packet Memory Control Error - Page returned to freed list was already freed. (For Link Status: 0=up,1=down for all links).

Action: Indicates problem with memory resource handling. Possible software or hardware problem. Review system log for additional data.

Message: <chip id> : TxPD Error: IPv4 Packet Length Too Short

Meaning: The transmit packet descriptor indicates a normal IPv4 length less than 20 bytes or a ping less than 24 bytes.

Action: No action required. The packet will be discarded.

Message: <chip id> : pmHdr Len Too High

Meaning: A mismatch occurred between the 8bit length in the pmHeader and length in the transmit packet descriptor.

Action: No action required.

Message: <link> link operational

Meaning: Fabric link in the specified plane for this module is up and operational. Also indicates communication with adjacent module in the specified plane.

Action: No action required.

Message: Link:<link> Down, crc check failed: Link Error Registers (0-5): 0x<link 1 register> 0x<link 2 register> 0x<link 3 register> 0x<link 4 register> 0x<link 5 register> 0x<link 6 register>

Meaning: CRC (Cyclical Redundancy Check) check failed on given link.

Action: If the error is reported in conjunction with other link up/down events, no action is needed, as these messages are expected during link transitions. If error is reported as an isolated incident, module may need reseating or possible bad hardware. Contact Avici Customer Support.

Message: SnareDrv::snIntrHandler, bad parity in result memory

Meaning: The forwarding engine has detected corruption of its state. Traffic ingressing this module may not be forwarded correctly.

Action: Contact Avici Customer Support.

Message: chip: <address> [<link>] rlinkErr: credit in CRC [reg val - 0x<register>]

Meaning: CRC (Cyclical Redundancy Check) errors were detected on the credit line of the stated link.

Action: If this is an isolated error and no other fabric/link errors are reported in the system log, reseat the module. If the problem persists, contact Avici Customer support.

Message: link crc error interrupt on <link>

Meaning: CRC (Cyclical Redundancy Check) errors detected on the specified link.

Action: If the error is reported in conjunction with other link up/down events, no action is needed, as these messages are expected during link transitions. If error is reported as an isolated incident, the module may need reseating or hardware may be bad. Contact Avici Customer Support.

Message: link down interrupt on <link>

Meaning: Interrupt received indicating either the remote or local link up bit has been cleared. Messages may no longer be exchanged by neighbor modules on the specified link.

Action: Review system logs to determine cause of link down interrupt. In case of user action such as shutdown, no action needed. Otherwise review related log messages and take appropriate actions.

Message: link up interrupt on <link>

Meaning: Interrupt received indicating both local and remote link-up bits are set. Messages may be exchanged between neighbor modules on the specified link.

Action: No action required

Warning

Message: Ingress Load Balancer: Clear ZBT (Zero Bus Turnaround) SRam Parity Error

Meaning: No ZBT Parity Error has been detected Detected on the current Ingress Load Balancer Interrupt. ZBT is a type of memory: Zero Bus Turnaround.

Action: No action required.

Message: Ingress Load Balancer: ZBT (Zero Bus Turnaround) SRam Parity Error

Meaning: An External ZBT memory parity error has occurred.If 100 errors in 1 second occur module will automatically fail. ZBT is a type of memory: Zero Bus Turnaround.

Action: No action required prior to a failure. Call Avici Customer support if the a failure takes place.

Message: Input Framer: External ILM RAM parity error

Meaning: Input Framer detected a parity error reading its external ILM Ram. If 100 errors occur in 1 second, the module will fail

Action: No action required if the module does not fail. Otherwise, call Avici Customer support.

Message: Input Framer: Full packet memory (<number>)

Meaning: Input Framer received a packet memory page 0 reply. This may indicate pushback, but if 100 errors occur in 1 second the module will fail

Action: No action required if the module does not fail. Otherwise, call Avici Customer support.

Message: Input Framer:<chip no> - FE sequence error # = <number>, MDF Reset

Meaning: The input framer entered an incorrect proccessing state.

Action: No action required. The condition should be self correcting.

Message: Input Framer:<chip no> - Internal RxPD FIFO is full # = <number>

Meaning: Indicates the internal receive packet descriptor fifo has 8 receive packet descriptors queued. Signifies a pushback is occurring downstream from the interface.

Action: No action required.

Message: Input Framer:<chip no> - Main data FIFO is full, stat2 0x<value> <full detects>

Meaning: The Internal Main Data Fifo is Full.

Action: No action required.

Message: Input Framer:<chip no> rev <revision> main fifo is wedged, MDF Reset up to <number> more times, stat2 0x<value>, 0x<value> timesWedged <number>

Meaning: The Internal Main Data Fifo is Full and is considered Wedged

Action: Attempts will be made to clear the problem by reseting the fifo. If the wedge can not be cleared the module will fail.

Message: Inter-Module Parity Error

Meaning: A Parity Error has been detected on the 1xOC-192c-b to the 1xOC-192c-a Transmit Interconnect data path.

Action: Check the Interconnect cable between the two modules. If this does not resolve the problem, contact Avici customer support.

Message: Invalid OC192c B Clock

Meaning: The Clock Forwarded from the 1xOC-192c-b to the 1xOC-192c-a board is not valid

Action: An Interconnect problem exists between the 1xOC-192c-b to the 1xOC-192c-a modules. Contact Avici customer support.

Message: Output Physical Layer (STX) parity error has occurred

Meaning: Output Physical Layer's calculated parity and the received packet parity do not agree.

Action: No action required.

Message: chip: <address> [<error info>] destCtlrErr: X Minus FAN protocol [reg val - 0x<register>]

Meaning: An X- FAN (Flit Arrival Notice) protocol error occurred in a destination (fabric) channel allocator. A module may reboot or a fabric link may bounce and a fabric link scrubbed. This message will be reported in conjunction with link down messages. A flit is a data cell internal to the ASIC.

Action: No action is required for this message, see other accompanying messages for possible actions.

Meaning: A Parity Error was detected on the module Fabric ASIC.

Action: If this is an isolated error and no other fabric/link errors are reported in the system log, reseat the module. If the problem persists, contact Avici Customer Support.
