encapsulation
Sets the encapsulation type for the PVC.
Syntax: encapsulation type
no encapsulation
type
Specifies the type of encapsulation for this PVC. Valid values are:
null - Encapsulation type set when the PVC is first created.
frl-ccc - Frame relay circuit cross connect encapsulation.
Default value: null.
Description: The encapsulation command specifies the type of encapsulation to be used on this PVC. When a PVC is first initialized using the interface frl-pvc command, the encapsulation is set to null. PVC encapsulation must be set to frl-ccc at the service point interface at both ends of a CCC service connection for the connection to be established.
Use the encapsulation frl-ccc command to set the PVC encapsulation to frame relay circuit cross connect.
Use the no encapsulation command to reset the PVC encapsulation to the default value. If the PVC is part of a connection, first delete the connection using the no connection name command before changing the encapsulation.
Factory Default: PVC encapsulation type Null.
Command Mode: PVC configuration.
Example: In the following example, the encapsulation command specifies that the frl-ccc encapsulation is used on PVC 1/1/1.21:
router(config)#interface frl-pvc 1/1/1.21
router(config-pvc)#encapsulation frl-ccc
router(config-pvc)#no shutdown
router(config-if)#end
router#
Example: In the following example, the encapsulation command resets the PVC encapsulation to the default value:
router(config)#interface frl-pvc 1/1/1.21
router(config-pvc)#no encapsulation
router(config-if)#end
