Preface

The Terabit Switch Router Install Guide (Split Bay) describes the procedures for installing and verifying operation of the TSR^® system hardware.

About This Document

This document contains descriptions of:

The hardware descriptions familiarize you with the system hardware components and their physical location in the TSR bay.

The installation procedures assist you in installing the TSR bay hardware, including:

• Making the required power, safety ground, and interface connections
  
  
• Populating the bay
  
  

  NOTE If you need information concerning a multiple bay installation, please refer to TSR Install Guide (Multi-Bay).

Intended Audience

The audience for this document is qualified service personnel trained in on-site network equipment installations.

"Preinstallation"	Describes the preinstallation preparations, including: unpacking, transporting, and unloading the TSR system in the installation location.
"Placing and Anchoring Bays"	Describes the procedures for positioning and anchoring a TSR system.
"Installing TSR Bay Components"	Describes the procedures for installing the TSR hardware and populating the bay.
"Installing System Cables"	Describes the procedures and connection locations for installing and connecting the system cables.
"Installing Bay Panels"	Describes the procedures for installing the front and side panels.
"POST and Troubleshooting"	Describes the system Power On Self-Test (POST) and module status LEDs.
"Routine Maintenance"	Describes the procedures for performing periodic system maintenance.

Familiarity with data communications and electronic concepts and terms is necessary to understand the information presented in this guide.

One to two years of experience installing data communications equipment is necessary to perform the installation procedures in this guide.You must be familiar with general cabinet, shelf, and circuit board installation techniques and terminology. In addition, you must be aware of all electrical and physical safety procedures and standards.
