bgp always-compare-med


Enables/disables Multi Exit Discriminator (MED) comparison when applying route selection rules between external neighbors.

Syntax: [no] bgp always-compare-med

Description: Multi-Exit Discriminator (MED) is considered when selecting the best path among many paths. Paths with lower MED are preferred.

Use the bgp always-compare-med command to enable the comparison of MED among paths learned from external neighbors.

Use the no bgp always-compare-med command to disable the comparison of MEDs in routing updates from external neighbors.

Factory Default: MED is compared when evaluating routes learned from external neighbors.

Command Mode: Router configuration.

Example: The following example configures a BGP speaker to compare Multi Exit Discriminators between paths with no regard for the neighbor from which the paths were received:

router(config)#router bgp 101

router(config-router)#bgp always-compare-med
