This procedure is for the replacement of a bay controller module for the Terabit Switch Router (TSR®).

Removing the Bay Controller
To access and replace the TSR bay controller module, it is necessary to remove the front air intake grille. It is not necessary to remove the cooling module.
PROCEDURE: Use the following steps to remove the front air intake assembly:
Step 1 Press and release the cable routing channel door panels on the left and right sides of the bay (front) to open the doors and access the grille.
Step 2 Grasp the face of the grille firmly by the air vents.
Step 3 Pull toward the front of the bay to release the four ball studs from the receptacles holding the assembly in place. Refer to Figure 1.

PROCEDURE: Use the following steps to remove the TSR bay controller:
Step 4 Pull open the ejectors to release the latches on the bay controller module and disengage the module from the backplane and the bay frame. Refer to Figure 2.
Step 5 Pull the bay controller out through the bottom-front of the bay. Figure 2 shows the TSR bay controller module removal.
Step 6 Place the module in the antistatic bag.

Installing the Bay Controller
The bay controller modules are shipped separately and need to be installed.
PROCEDURE: Use the following steps to install the TSR bay controllers:

CAUTION Risk of electrostatic damage. When handling circuit cards, wear a grounded antistatic wrist strap or equivalent protection to avoid damaging electrostatic parts.
Step 1 Disengage the release latches on the bay controller module.
Step 2 Align the bay controller module with the nylon rails above the baseplate.
Step 3 Slide the bay controller modules into the left or right card guides from the front of the bay. Refer to Figure 3.

Step 4 Engage the latches to seat the connector at the rear of the module firmly in the controller backplane.
Step 5 Repeat Step 1 through Step 4 for the remaining bay controller.
Installing the Front Air Intake Assembly
PROCEDURE: Use the following procedure to install the front air intake assembly:
Step 1 Align the ball studs in the assembly with the receptacles on the bay frame.

Step 2 Carefully press on the front air intake assembly until it snaps in place.

CAUTION To avoid damage to the hardware components during installation, observe the standard electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions.
