
primary-preference
Specifies the preference for this route controller being selected as primary or backup.
Syntax: primary-preference prefValue
prefValue
Specifies a numeric value indicating the preference of this server, relative to other servers, being selected primary. Default = 20.
Description: The route controller with the highest primary-preference value becomes primary upon system boot. Once the primary is selected, the backup is selected based upon an internal algorithm that takes into account its primary-preference value.
Use the primary-preference command in configuration command mode to set the primary preference value for this route controller.
Use the show server verbose command to display the primary preference value for this route controller.
Factory Default: 20.
Command Mode: Configuration.
Example: The following example sets the primary preference value for this route controller to 30:
router#configure terminal
Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.
router(config)#primary-preference 30
