arp retry timeout


Configures the number seconds the ARP cache manager waits between retries to resolve an IP address.

Syntax: arp retry timeout retryWait

no arp retry timeout

retryWait

Specifies the length of time in seconds between retries. Valid values are 30 - 65535.

Description: The ARP retry timeout sets the number of seconds between retries when the cache manager attempts to resolve an IP address.

Use the arp retry timeout retryWait command to specify the number of seconds between attempts to resolve an IP address.

Use the no arp retry timeout command to set the number of seconds between attempts to resolve an IP address at the default value.

Factory Default: 5 seconds.

Command Mode: Configuration.

Example 1: The following example sets the number of seconds the ARP manager waits between retries to resolve an IP address to 100:

router#configure terminal

Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.

router(config)#arp retry timeout 100

router(config)#end

router#

Example 2: The following example sets the timer between attempts to resolve an IP address to the default value:

router#configure terminal

Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.

router(config)#no arp retry timeout

router(config)#end

router#
