
exit
In privileged or executive command modes: ends the interactive login session.
In configuration command mode: backs up one level of command mode.
Syntax: exit
Description: Use the exit command in privileged or executive command mode to terminate the interactive login session.
Use the exit command any of the configuration command modes to back up one level of command mode.
Factory Default: None.
Command Mode: All

Example 1: In the following example, the exit command in Interface configuration command mode backs up the command mode level one level to Configuration command mode:
router(config-if)#exit
router(config)#
Example 2: In the following example, the exit command in Privileged command mode closes the interactive session:
router#exit
Connection closed by foreign host.
