
configure
Changes the command mode to configuration mode.
Syntax: configure {terminal | file | network}
terminal
Performs configuration commands entered from the terminal.
file
Performs configuration commands stored in a local file. You are prompted to enter the name of the configuration file.
network
Performs configuration commands from a file located on a remote system in the network. You are prompted to enter the IP address of the host system where the file is located and the name of the file.
Description: Use the configure command to enter configuration mode. If you do not use one of the three keywords, you are prompted to specify the source of configuration commands.
Factory Default: None.
Command Mode: Privileged.
Example 1: The following example demonstrates the change from privileged executive mode to router configuration mode when the configure command is used, and displays the list of available commands in the new mode:
router#config terminal
Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.
router(config)# ?

Example 3: In the following example, the network keyword executes commands stored in a file named testfile.cfg located on remote system 140.122.1.190:
router#configure network

Enter source filename: testfile.cfg
