
aaa optional-passwords
Specifies the system password or no password when the last resort method of authentication is enabled.
Syntax: [no] aaa optional-passwords
Description: Last-resort authentication allows you to access the Avici router if all defined AAA servers are unreachable. By default, when last-resort authentication is enabled, the system password is used as the AAA password.
Use the aaa optional-passwords command to configure the Avici router to use the system password as the last resort. (This is the default.)
Use the no aaa optional-passwords command to configure the Avici router to require no password.
NOTE It is not recommended to configure AAA to require no passwords.
Factory Default: Last-resort authentication uses the system password.
Command Mode: Configuration.
Example: In the following example, the no aaa optional-passwords command configures the Avici router to require no password when last-resort authentication is enabled:
router#configure terminal
Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.
router(config)#no aaa optional-passwords
