lacp
Enables the Link Aggregation Control Protocol for this aggregate link.
Syntax: lacp
no lacp
Description: The 802.3ad standard provides for the formation of a single Layer 2 link from two or more standard Ethernet member links via automatic member link activation using the Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP). LACP provides a robust means of assuring that both ends of the link are up and agree to be members of the aggregation before the link member is activated. LACP must be enabled at both ends of the link to be operational. Should LACP not be available at both ends of the link, 802.3ad provides a manual aggregation that only requires both ends of the link be in a link up state. Because manual aggregation provides for the activation of a member link without performing the LACP message exchanges, it should not be considered as reliable and robust as an LACP negotiated link. LACP automatically determines which member links can be aggregated and then aggregates them. It provides for the controlled addition and removal of physical links for the link aggregation such that no frames are lost or duplicated. The removal of aggregate link members is provided by the marker protocol that can be optionally enabled for LACP enabled aggregate links.
Use the lacp command to enable the LACP for an aggregate link.
Use the no lacp command to disable the LACP for an aggregate link.
Factory Default: Enabled on configuration of aggregate link.
Command Mode: Interface aggregate link configuration
Example 1: In the following example LACP is enabled for the nyc-chicago aggregate link:
router#configure terminal
Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.
router(config)#interface aggregate-link nyc-chicago
router(config-if)#lacp
router(config-if)#end
router#
Example 2: In the following example LACP is disabled for the nyc-chicago aggregate link:
router#configure terminal
Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.
router(config)#interface aggregate-link nyc-chicago
router(config-if)#no lacp
router(config-if)#end
router#
